Sheetz Restaurant

The Maryland Board of Public Works recently gave the green light for a new Sheetz gas station and convenience store to be built near Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport. The board, which included Lt. Governor Boyd K. Rutherford, Comptroller Peter Franchot, and Treasurer Nancy Kopp, voted unanimously in favor of the sublease. This development is sure to be welcomed by travelers and local residents alike.

Sheetz, a popular restaurant and convenience chain in the Mid-Atlantic region, is set to build a new store location at the intersection of Aviation Boulevard and Amtrak Way on the northwest side of the airport. This 4-acre site is located near the BWI Rail Station and the airport's consolidated rental car facility, making it a convenient spot for travelers and locals alike. Sheetz was named the Best Regional Fast Food Chain by USA Today in 2020, which bodes well for its new location.

"We are thrilled to have Sheetz join our airport and local community," said Ricky Smith, Executive Director of BWI Marshall Airport. "The new store location will offer excellent service for our passengers, rental car customers, employees, and local residents. The Sheetz brand is synonymous with quality and convenience, which aligns perfectly with our commitment to providing modern, top-notch amenities at the airport."

PMG BWI Airport Plaza Developers, LLC was previously awarded a contract by the Board of Public Works to develop the airport site. This company specializes in building and operating service plazas at airports across the United States to meet the needs of travelers. They worked with Sheetz to bring the convenience store chain to BWI Marshall Airport. Construction of the new service plaza is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2022.

Although this Sheetz location is still in the early stages of development, Vice President of Real Estate, Steven Augustine, is excited to introduce the Sheetz brand to both local and national travelers at BWI Marshall Airport. "We are confident that our award-winning Made-to-Order (MTO®) menu and 24/7/365 convenience offered by Sheetz will be a great fit for customers who are on the go," he said.
